I believe this chapters theme was courage and bravery. I think this because of everybody’s actions in this chapter. Jem is brave enough to sneak out and go after Atticus. Atticus is brave enough to go out and guard the jail when he knew it would be dangerous. Scout is brave enough to run out and talk to Mr. Cunningham about his son and things as usual when they weren’t. Mr.C to walk away from that situation and stand up for the Finch’s. Also with Tom he stayed in the building to help Atticus, he helped him defend the jail.
This Chapter showed how Atticus was brave enough to stand up and not just talk. He knew trouble was coming and what did he do? He read, he didn’t care about him self he only cared when the children were involved. He also didn’t give them a thing he stood there calm and collected when they told him the sheriff was gone. Mr. C showed Courage when he walked away from the situation. A coward would have stayed with his group and not stood up for anything. This chapter showed that the Cunningham’s care and will repay there debt in kind if put to the test.

chap 7&8
Today seemed very odd, when i got home from work Jem was very sad and he asked me if the Radley's tree was dieing. I said no and Jem got all upset about it, I wonder what is wrong? I think it might have to do with where he and Scout found that watch. It snowed today, Scout screamed and thought the world was ending. they went out and said they were going to make a snowman i don't know if they can or will. When I came home they had one that look quiet like Mr.Avery I told them to change it at once. In the middle of the night Miss Maudey's ouse caught i was worried about our. After the fire it was discovered Boo R had come out and put a blanket around her. Her reaction to this was comical. Mrs. Radley died today. Scout asked me if Boo was there why are those kids so interested in him? I have a feeling it is all that Dill kid's fault he seems like the lying sort. I hope the kids learn to leave him alone and since i can't watch them in the day. I thought Jem wanted to be a lawyer, I'm not so sure about him now.
norms
Atticus follows only his own norms, for he took the case of the black man. If Atticus did not follow his norms then he would let scout be racist and mess with the radleys. He would let Jack tell them lies and dilute the kids about life. Also he tries to teach his kids about life and to make them wiser, the norm is rais your kid nothing more. Also People today let their kids bother people to much, unlike that Atticus minds them. So Atticus follows his own norms and is prowd of it.
Miss maudey doesn't follow the norms when she is happy her house was burned down. Any "Normal' person would be devestated but not her. Miss dubose also breaks the norm, she is always mean and is racist, far out of the norm. And Mr Radley is also far out of the norm he dosen't like fun, hates his son and his fun. Shoots at kids very solitary a foot baptist. all in all these people fall way out side of normal behaviour.

scout
Well thisun christmas i done spent my hollyday at finch's landin. I dont know why we go each year. Aunt Alex alwyas naggin me each year and Francis was gettin mighty close to a beatin and he got one powerful. He was calin atticus a Negro lover i didn't understand what he ment by that but his tone told me. Then uncle jack yelled at me forin defendin Atticus he didn listen to my side.
An all this time i thought atticus was an old man. yet he he proved me powerfully wrong. the ol city dog was mad un makin his way down our street. then mister tate gave atticus the gun i thoughin we was done for. yet he hit um in one shot he knew wat he was doin the whole time and miss maudy said he was one shot finch. i wanted to brag about it but jem says no, Why?
We had to read to miss dubose all this week cause jem killed her plants. a day after we finished she was dead turns out she was a morphine addict. she gave jem one of her flowers though. he compleatly jumped when it happened though and got all mad.

morality
Atticus follows universal ethics, He raises his kids how he wants to have them when they get older. Insted of having to follow others peoples morality's, he follows his own. The one black family versus the white family shows that he doesn't care what others think of him he would rather do what he wants others to do to him. This is also shown when he tells jem to go read to Miss Dubose, because its the nice thing to do. He also takes the radleys into consideration, about how they treat the radleys.
Scout followes her own self-interest mostlywhen she beats people up not for any one but because that makes her content, Walter she beat him up for her self-image. And how she dresses her aunt would rather have her dress like a girl should at the time. But she also does things for atticus when she doesn't beat up the one kid and when she eats up on francis. She also does things for others like when she goes with jem to the Dubose's she didn't have to go but wanted to, to help Jem. and with school she stays in school for aticus also so she is mainly for her self or atticus.
